New video for True Love Will Find You in the End
Mates of State’s brand new video for their interpretation of Daniel Johnston’s “True Love Will Find You In The End” will make its broadcast debut today at 2:35 p.m. EST during an ABC News Now “Amplified” segment, which can be seen on RCN and Verizon FiOS as well as at abcnews.com/amplified, and will also feature an exclusive segment documenting the making of the clip.
The “True Love Will Find You In The End” video, which will also be viewable separately at MatesofState.com, features Mates Jason Hammel and Kori Gardener roaming the subways and streets of New York making mischief with mobile video projectors. The video began as concept hatched over beers by Hammel and ABC reporter Dan Harris and was ultimately realized as a unique collaboration between Mates of State and ABC.
Pre-Order & New Video
Hi Everyone,
Our new album, Crushes (The Covers Mixtape), is now available for
pre-order at www.matesofstate.com for a reasonable five dollars! We
are really proud of this record - it may be our best yet. We made it as
efficiently and independently as possible, so in turn we kept the price
low to make it as easy for anyone and everyone to hear it. The record
will be officially released on June 15 and will be available at all
finer digital music retailers as well.
Also just unveiled at www.matesofstate.com is the brand new video for
Nick Cave's "Love Letter." The literally and figuratively smoldering
clip was directed by Daniel Garcia, who also directed "Get Better" from
Mates of State's 2008 album Re-Arrange Us, and has directed videos for
TV On The Radio, The Go! Team and J Dilla.
Lastly, the Summer Crushes tour is on sale now and is coming to a city near you. Check the SHOWS page
to get advance tickets. Besides Free Energy, Todd Barry, Nick Thune,
and Suckers on various shows, we are close to announcing the variety
and sideshow acts that will be opening most shows too. See you soon!
The Summer Crushes Tour 2010
Mates of State are going out on a 27-date US summer tour! Tickets go on sale in select cities tomorrow, April 21, and the rest this Saturday April 24 for what will be known as "The Summer Crushes 2010 Tour".
The Summer Crushes 2010 tour will feature Free Energy, comedian Todd Barry on select dates, comedian Nick Thune on select dates, and special variety and sideshow acts to boot. We intend for this to be the most extravagant Mates show ever! We're talking live magic, sword swallowers, human blockheads, contortionists, and much more. On top of all this, Jason and Kori will be DJ'ing post-shows. It's going to be a fun party, folks, and you all are invited. Dates and ticket info below.
Also, a big thank you to all of you who signed up to receive "Laura" as a free MP3. If you didn't get it and still want it, head on over to the homepage. More news on the release of Crushes (The Covers MIxtape) and additional tour information to come in the following weeks...
