NEW Album, Tour + LA Pre-sale

Dude, it's coming fast, Finally! The record is called "Re-Arrange Us" and it will hit the stores May 20th. We recorded it all over this fine country, with 3 amazing producers: At Tiny Telephone in San Francisco, CA with Chris Walla, at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT with Peter Katis, and at Public Hi-Fi in Austin, TX with Jim Eno. Then, we shaped, massaged, and mixed all the pieces together again with Peter Katis. This sh*t is for real.

Here's a track listing:
1. Get Better
2. Now
3. My Only Offer
4. The Re-Arranger
5. Jigsaw
6. Blue and Gold Print
7. Help Help
8. You Are Free
9. Great Dane
10. Lullaby Haze

Upcoming tour dates:
5/25/08 George, WA @ Sasquatch
5/28/08 Los Angeles, CA @ Henry Fonda Theater [Pre-Sale]

Look for some songs arriving shortly, along with lots of tour dates, and a video for Get Better!

Peace.

Get your Mates

Hey hey Everyone
If we've been quiet, it's only because we've been absorbed in the work. New things are upon us.

New Music
We’ve been writing and preparing to record with Spoon’s Jim Eno. We're heading into his studio early November to bust out some deep cuts. He wants us to sound like Queen. We don't mind. It'll be just like old times.

New York
Three NYC shows sold-out (thank u NYC!) so we've added a 4th. For those of you who haven’t had a chance to buy a ticket yet, we will be playing on 10/17 at Avalon with The Walkmen. The event is free and all CMJ badges will be honored. www.unsignedartists.com

Here is a complete list of tour dates for October. (Boston and Northampton tix are almost gone....) :

10/17 New York NY @ Avalon – FREE
10/17 New York NY @ Joe's Pub - SOLD OUT
10/18 New York NY @ Annex - SOLD OUT
10/19 New York NY @ Joe's Pub - SOLD OUT

New Compilation: For The Kids III
We are featured on this children’s compilation that was released last week and we covered James Taylor's “Jellyman Kelly”, which was inspired by watching old Sesame Street re-runs with you-know-who. Other artists on this album are Of Montreal, Rogue Wave, Blitzen Trapper, and Moby (wha?!) among others . You can preview the album here:

We'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur

Mates of State Collaborate w/ PETA.

From the PETA site: (http://www.peta2.com/outthere/o-mates.asp)

Kori and Jason of Mates of State have been muses for many a hipster’s late-night journal scribblings on what it would be like to rock out for a living side-by-side with your boo. It has been said before, but we will say it again: This husband-and-wife duo border on the achingly adorable. From their love-gaze-filled shows to their “finish each other’s sentences” interviews, they are truly an indie rock dream.

Mates of State are also a peta2 dream, because they can’t stand fur either. They want people to drop the pelts of tortured animals from their wardrobe so badly that they were not afraid to make a statement by taking it all off for the cause. Need evidence? Look to the right to see their new “We’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” ad. (see link above)

If you can peel your eyes away from their too-pretty-for-words ad for a minute, check out the behind-the-scenes footage of the photo shoot below—then enter to win an iPod filled with their delightful music. (see link above)

Mates of State have inspired many “awws” from the crowds at their shows, and now, with their bare-all ad, they’re inspiring people to drop their nasty fur habit. After taking Mates of State’s advice not to buy or wear fur to heart, fill out the form below to enter to win an iPod with the duo’s Bring It Back already on it.
